Fashion Week Favorites: The Classics

I’ve always gravitated toward the classics—classic literature, classic rock, classic cocktails (wink wink)—and my style is no different. Full of chic blouses, tailored trenches and lots of toned-down neutrals, I think of my wardrobe as more the Carolina Herrera and Ralph Lauren type. Let’s just say that if my fashion sense aligned with a character on Sex and the City, it would definitely be a Charlotte (though not always so prim, proper and buttoned up).
Lucky for me, I’ve gotten plenty of style inspiration for Fall ’13, thanks to many of the Ready-to-Wear collections coming down the runway in New York. Here are just a few of my favorites:

Structured coats, brocade pants and red lips fit in perfectly with my classic wardrobe.

Upping the Drama

From left: St. John; Jenni Kayne. What says classic better than tailored pants, a white blouse and a peek of leopard print?

Evening Elegance

From left: Carolina Herrera; Diane von Furstenberg; Billy Reid. A classic style doesn't equal boring. With a little fur, sparkle and skin, staples like neutrals, trenches and button-downs can be both sleek and sexy.
