Red Carpet Rundown: The Oscars

I love film and I obviously adore fashion, so when the Oscars roll around, I’m like a kid on Christmas morning. There’s just so much build up and anticipation, what with all of the “warm up” shows like the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, plus the endless magazines and TV shows predicting which leading lady will wear what fabulous dress and designer.

But while there were some true stunners on the red carpet last night—umm, hello, Zoe Saldana!—I have to admit I felt a bit let down. Sure, I didn’t think there were quite as many sure-fire, worst-dressed candidates as in some years past. But nothing truly wowed me and left me scanning site after site to see a dress in every possible pose and angle.

Tiny letdown aside, there were some true beauties at the 2013 Oscars. Here are my picks for best dressed:

Girls on Fire

Blushing Beauties

Pale colors can be a real snooze fest on the red carpet, but these Best Actress nominees make it work with a bit of elegance and a whole lot of sexy. From left: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture; Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive.

Mixed Metals

Part badass, part bombshell, these women really know how to rock your not-so-basic gold and silver. From left: Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan; Catherine Zeta-Jones in Zuhair Murad; and Naomi Watts in Armani Privé.

And just because she looked so stunning in her black lace and beaded Marchesa gown, I had to include a shot of the beautiful Sandra Bullock.
