The Long and (Not So) Short of It

A few weeks ago (during our weekly “The Bachelorette” viewing), my friend asked for my thoughts on maxi dresses. Initially, I gave them a big thumbs down; despite what every stylist and fashion guru says about them creating the illusion of mile-long legs, I just had a gut feeling—without any actual evidence, of course—that a maxi dress would make me look inches shorter than I actually am.
But after seeing them on girl after girl and loving the way they looked, I decided it was time to give this summer staple a shot. So for the last few weeks, I’ve been searching around for the perfect maxi—something not too casual, but not over the top , with a little bit of sexy and a whole lotta style.
