Easy, Elegant Entertaining: Wine + Cheese Night

To say my taste in food has matured over the last several years is an understatement. I was the girl who used to nearly choke on red wine, refuse to eat any cheese other than what came on pizza and lasagna, and scoff at the idea of a protein that wasn’t chicken, beef or fish.
But just look at me now! Red wine & IPAs are my drinks of choice, I love trying new and adventurous dishes (rabbit confit, steak tartare and bone marrow included!), and there are few things I like to snack on more than a tasty cheese plate.
Speaking of, Harrison and I had an amazing cheese plate on Saturday night as an appetizer for his big birthday dinner. A good Parm is our go-to cheese, but we recently fell in love with a sharp, nutty take on this classic called Piave Vecchio. Fortunately, we just happened to stumble upon it—along with a delicious smoked Gouda and some mouthwatering sweet Abbruzze sausage—at the local Italian market.
Cheese PlateWe make our own cheese and Italian meat plates at least once a month, but for some reason, I’ve yet to buy a dedicated cheese board, knife set or cheese markers. And now that we’re living together again, I really want to start entertaining more, so those items are a must. As a little inspiration, I pulled together everything I need and want for the perfect wine + cheese night:
