Yesterday was Harrison’s birthday, but we’ve been celebrating since Saturday and we’re keeping the party going throughout the week (his family has this wonderful tradition of a birthday week, rather than just one day, and I’ve happily picked that up). Though I’ve been cooking him pretty indulgent meals at home all week, tonight we headed to a five-course beer-pairing dinner at this really cute oyster house in University City called Doc Magrogan’s.
We had some amazing dishes—from Oysters Rockafeller and Jerk Shrimp Salad to Lamb Chops with Pureed Root Vegetables and Banana Nutella Strudel—paired with some delicious Victory Brewing Company beers (the Dirt Wolf Double IPA was by far my favorite). And since we typically reserve our date nights for the weekend, I wanted to keep my outfit cute and classy, but pretty casual.
The answer: a sheer-front, long-sleeved blouse paired with a satin skirt, black tights and leopard-brooch flats.
How do you keep things date-appropriate on a weeknight?
