Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Things have been so insane for me over the last 48 hours—we ended up having to leave for Europe a day early due to the crazy snowstorm that’s still pounding the Northeast—that I almost forgot about the holiday when I woke up this morning. But never fear, it will be celebrated! After a day of shopping, we’re planning to head to a cool cocktail bar and Argentinian steakhouse for dinner, then we’re off to the Ascot Chase (a horse race) tomorrow morning. So British!
But before I dive headfirst into all the amazing shops and sights London has to offer, I want to share everything I’m dying to live with, wear, eat and visit this week. Check it out:
Live With: Cake plate and dome (via Ballard Designs)
I’ve been dying to bake a cake recently, but I’ve been forced to hold off because my trusty cake plate and dome were broken during my move to Philadelphia a few months ago. Major sad face. I’ve somehow managed to make it this long without replacing it, but I don’t think I can go without it much longer. I’m sure there are a ton of amazing home goods stores in London, but I don’t quite think I could fit a cake plate in my luggage—especially without it breaking—so I’ll just have to wait a few weeks before starting my real search back home.
Wear: Black suede heels
On my list of things to look for in Europe: A new pair of black heels. There’s nothing wrong with the go-to black pumps I typically wear, per se, but I’ve really been wanting a pair that’s a little more lightweight and streamlined, like these. I’m hoping my shopping trips over the next few days will help me find a few options I love.
Eat: Red Velvet Pancakes (recipe via PureWow)
Could you think of a recipe more perfect for Valentine’s Day (or weekend) breakfast? These pancakes look delicious and oh-so-beautiful, and if I were home for the holiday, you could bet I’d be making these. Now I’ll just have to find an excuse to make them in the future, which shouldn’t be too hard.
Visit: Katz Orange, Bergstraße 22, Berlin, Germany
Berlin is the last stop we’re making on our European trip, and I’ve been trying to find a few good restaurant options that aren’t gastropubs (not that there’s anything wrong with those). I think I’ve found the perfect place with this farm-to-table restaurant that looks just as beautiful as it does tasty.
