It’s already my last morning in London, and even though I’m excited to visit Ireland for a few days, I’m really going to miss being in this beautiful city. Harrison and I have had a wonderful (and somewhat exhausting) time over the last several days, checking out lots of great restaurants, shops and different areas in the city. I finally had a chance to see (and completely fall in love with) Harrods, as well as grab a ridiculously delicious Salted Caramel cupcake and vanilla latte at Peggy Porschen. But one of the best out-of-the-box experiences we had was going to the Ascot Chase on Saturday.
I’ve been to a horse race once before in Del Mar, California, and had a blast, but the Ascot Chase was even more exciting for two reasons: One, it was a hurdles race (meaning the horses did jumps) rather than a flat race, and two, I was surrounded by hordes of stylishly dressed Brits in sharp suits and fabulous hats.
Not wanting to look too underdressed or out of place, I brought along one of my favorite dresses, a cream lace number that I just don’t wear often enough. Paired with black tights, a classic trench coat and delicate gold jewelry, I think I fit in well enough to not completely stand out as a lost tourist.
The only thing I was missing? An amazing fascinator a la Kate Middleton. Good thing there’s always next time!
