The days following St. Patrick’s Day always seem to be a rough one for a lot of people, so I hope you’re all recovering nicely! Fortunately for me, we decided to keep our celebration pretty low key this year (read: nearly nonexistent), so I’m not struggling the way I know some of my neighbors must be.
We did make sure to celebrate with a little Guinness and a few pieces of green in our wardrobe, though, and I couldn’t wait to pull out one of my favorite spring pieces—a pastel green, chiffon button down—that’s been tucked away in my closet nearly all winter long. And since it’s (sadly) still feeling far from spring-like, I paired it with my favorite wool blazer, a subtle bubble skirt (which I love because of its two front pockets), a simple pair of black booties and a spring-ready statement necklace.
I’m the kind of person who keeps her makeup relatively the same each day, switching out lip colors to complement my outfit, while keeping my face and eye makeup consistent each day. But I recently saw this really cute eye makeup idea in the April issue of Real Simple (page 40), which suggested layering a colored liner over your typical black or brown. I have a teal blue eyeliner that I pull out on days I’m feeling especially bold, and it ended up being the perfect color to blend with my go-to black liner. And since I was already wearing pastel green and bright blue, I thought, “Why not throw a bubblegum-pink lip into the mix?” So I did! And I was surprised at just how much I loved the overdose of color. Spring, I’m coming for you!
How did you wear green on St. Patrick’s Day? And how do you like to play with a mix of colors in your clothes and makeup?
