When Harrison and I went to Europe a few months ago, I didn’t do a whole lot of shopping (there simply wasn’t enough space in my suitcase!), but I did pick up a few pieces here and there that I absolutely couldn’t do without. I wore one of them out and about in Berlin, but I’ve been saving another dress I bought in London for the perfect spring day. And yesterday, I finally found it!
I have a few striped pieces already hanging in my closet, but this dress is nothing like anything else I’ve ever owned. Its structured fit, wide sleeves, and competing horizontal and vertical stripes make it a fun departure from your typical striped number (and it doesn’t hurt that I’ve already spotted it on January Jones and Beyonce!). Pairing it with an equally bold, strappy heel and a pop of color with my emerald belt and necklace, it was a classically edgy look fit for a sunny, spring afternoon.
I know there’s the “myth” that horizontal stripes are unflattering on everyone, but with its tailored fit and vertical stripes running along each side, I really don’t think that holds true for this patterned dress—especially when it’s paired with bare legs and a waist-cinching belt.
What’s one piece you’ve been saving for spring?
