A few weeks ago, I rediscovered all of the reasons why I don’t watch the Food Network: One, because I get glued to it and spend hours tuning into to show after show, and two, because I want to make absolutely everything I see. And since I don’t really have that kind of time on my hands (though I really wish I did), it’s just not an option. But I did let myself watch just one episode of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, however, and it’s a good thing I did because I found an amazing new dessert recipe that’s not only easy to make, but is absolutely and addictively delicious.
Though I adore baking, I’m always a fan of simple desserts that require little effort or, even better, no bake time to make. Add in ingredients like chocolate, pretzels and creamy peanut butter, and you have a sweet snack I simply can’t turn down.
Another plus for these Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter Bars: They take less than 10 minutes to whip up and taste almost exactly like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (and trust me, they’re just as addictive). Can’t resist them any longer? Check out the recipe below, then get to (not) baking!
No Bake Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter Bars
Yield: 12 servings (via Trisha’s Southern Kitchen)
1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) butter, melted
2 cups crushed pretzel rods
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 cup plus 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
1. In medium bowl, add melted butter, pretzel crumbs, confectioners’ sugar and 1 cup peanut butter. Stir until well combined.
2. Press mixture evenly into bottom of ungreased 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
3. Combine chocolate chips and remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until chocolate and peanut butter are melted and smooth (two intervals is typically enough). Mix to blend, then spread over peanut butter-pretzel layer.
4. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before cutting into squares.
