As much as I love the hustle, bustle and thrill of living in a big city, I am (and always will be) a Southern girl at heart. Sure, I don’t have a super-thick accent (most of the time) or drink gallons of sweet tea every day like I used to, but I do still love to incorporate little bits of the South and Southern living into my lifestyle and wardrobe. Yes, my wardrobe. And yesterday was the perfect day to do just that.
Throwing on one of my favorite linen dresses, a woven shoulder bag and a gold-and-pearl statement necklace, I added a little Southern charm to the mix on the warm, breezy spring day with my trusty cowboy boots and a classic pair of pearl earrings.
To be honest, I don’t get to wear my cowboy boots nearly enough. But when I do, I always enjoy the puzzled looks I get from northerners who think I must be lost and looking for my way back to the South (or to the Midwest, at least). I also love how comfy and casual they are—the perfect way to keep a sweet, floral-print dress, delicate jewels and a color-drenched lip from going too girly.
What do you think: Would you ever incorporate Southern touches like these into your city wardrobe?
