Not that I’m complaining by any means (I swear!), but the temperatures have yet to feel like June here in New York. Sure, it’s been (mostly) blue skies, sunny days and cool breezes, but without all the hot, sticky, muggy weather that I’m used to by this point in the year (especially in North Carolina). And personally, I absolutely love that, particularly when it means I get to wear some of my summer nights–only dresses and ensembles during the summer days.
That’s exactly what I did recently with one of my favorite-ever dresses, which I picked up years ago in the “Vintage” section of an amazing Topshop in London. I absolutely adore this dress, with its sequin detailing, pearl trim and sheer, embroidered hem, but I don’t get to wear it that often in the summer because its thicker, tweed-like material can be a little stuffy when the temperature rises. But paired with thick-heeled, leather sandals and a quilted + studded tote, it was the perfect ensemble for a beautiful, breezy afternoon.
This is one of those dresses that can be worn either casually (like I did here) for a low-key get together or totally dressed up for a fancy night out, thanks to its delicate, feminine features and flirty fit. And personally, I like to make sure it gets to do both every now and then!
What’s your favorite summer dress at the moment?
