Artist to Adore: Hunt Slonem

Though I love art, I’ve never really been a collector or even had a favorite artist. But I think there’s finally someone who’s come close to claiming that title: Hunt Slonem. I visited the fabulous Mr. Slonem last week in his Manhattan studio, and it’s a work of art in itself, filled to the brim with unbelievable paintings, amazing antique furniture and dozens of gorgeous live birds (which happen to be one of Slonem’s favorite subjects to paint).

Not only does Slonem produce slightly abstract watercolor paintings of birds and, more recently, bunnies, but he also creates stunning sculptures, portraits and prints. I’m personally crazy about his vividly colored aviary prints, but would be just as happy to have one of his floral prints or portraits hanging on my wall, too.

Check out shots of his studio and more of his paintings over on his website. And if you’re like me and can’t quite afford one of his paintings yet, just buy one of his gorgeous coffee table books to tide you over!
