Introducing: The Warby Parker Fall ’14 Collection

It’s one of my favorite times of the year again! And no, I’m not talking about fall. I’m talking about New York Fashion Week, where all of my most-adored designer brands will be showing off their latest and greatest collections for the Spring ’15 season!

You know who’s also showing off a new collection? Everyone’s go-to glasses brand, Warby Parker, who debuted its Fall 2014 collection just this morning. Featuring nine new shapes in a number of different shades—including Crystal (for a more modern look), Striped Pacific (for a rich, sophisticated effect) and Petal Tortoise (for a soft, earthy feel)—the collection has a lot to offer in terms of great style.

Available online and in Warby Parker stores and showrooms, you can pick up pieces from the new collection today (and starting from just $95!).

To celebrate the new collection, the folks at Warby Parker asked me to pick out a few of my favorite shapes and shades. And because no glasses can be chosen without an outfit in mind, I thought it would be fun to design a lineup of fall outfits around each pair. Take a look at my picks:

I love the thought of rich hues like navy and deep charcoal grey for fall, especially when they’re paired in a casual-cool look that can go from a Saturday of shopping to a lazy Sunday brunch. Throw on a layered sweater with a pair of rugged-chic distressed denim, and dress it up with a statement bootie, crystal-drenched necklace and metallic clutch for a look you’ll never tire of all season long.

Practically made for the office, this black, white and gold color combo would look gorgeous when paired with the mod Crystal glasses. Add a ribbed sweater to a pair of tailored-but-loose trousers, then complete the look with luxe booties, a statement neckline, a simple shoulder bag and another touch of lucite for a modern look that will never get old.

There’s something about tortoiseshell that feels so classically luxe to me, so naturally I would want to wear it with a look that reads feminine and polished. And what better way to achieve that than with a ladylike skirt, gilded accessories, leopard-print pumps and a swipe of deep red lipgloss?

What I’m Wearing: Bold Lips + Leopard Print

The last week or so has been insanely busy for me, with lots of deadlines looming and new assignments popping up out of nowhere. So busy that I’ve hardly had time to put much effort into my everyday ensembles. That’s one of the main reasons I’ve been keeping my outfits pretty simple recently, relying on basic pieces like solid-colored tees and skinnies that are easy to mix and match no matter what shoes, accessories or coat I’m wearing.

I kept with this minimalistic mindset today—black long-sleeved T-shirt, dark-wash jeans and olive suede booties—but breathed a bit of life into it with my favorite animal-print coat and go-to red lips. The mix of neutrals (yes, leopard print is a neutral!) with a pop of fiery red and a hint of gold jewelry is an effortless combo—just what I’m looking for on a day when my schedule is jam packed.

Friday Find: Striped Pencil Skirt

Not that it’s a new trend, by any means, but I’ve been seeing so many striped skirts—black & white versions in particular—around the city, on Pinterest and in magazines lately that I’m absolutely itching to have one myself. Paired with everything from chunky knit sweaters and silky blouses to leather tees and chambray button-downs, a striped skirt lends modern elegance to any outfit. What’s not to love?

Here are two of my favorites right now:

Despite the myth that horizontal stripes always make you look wider, these body-hugging pencil skirts seem to look amazing on everyone. Do you have a striped pencil skirt? If so, how do you style it to make sure it’s flattering?
